Link - The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Worn:
GAnime 2019 (Gatineau, QC)
Cornwall and Area Pop Event 2022 (Cornwall, ON)
Status: Active
Why ALBW Link?
I almost never play the role of the hero, so this was quite the change for me to do a hero character. However, A Link Between Worlds is one of my favourite games in the Legend of Zelda series, so I had to do this version of Link. Not my usual undertaking for a character or cosplay but of course I had to take a simple costume and make it difficult. Currently it is only the basic starting pieces of this costume and I plan to add some more pieces over time.
Fabrics: twill, knit, & vinyl
Hat: The hat I made a simple triangle shape to start off with and added the yellow rectangluar band. I had the hat started and finished in maybe an hour. The seams in the hat are all finished with a zigzag stitch.
Wig: A Magnum Long in Ginger Blonde from Arda Wigs / Arda Wigs Canada. I teased the underside of the bangs and various layers within them, keeping the top smooth. The entire swoop is set in place with Got2B and a hair dryer. The side burns were styled in a similar manner. I sheared off much of the back and making it layered.

Tunic: I made the tunic with the same twill as the hat. I used the pattern from my Dark Link to make this one, modifying the flare slightly as I was using a stiffer fabric. Seams inside are finished with the same zigzag as the hat. The collar has a full facing to keep the neat and clean edges which are ironed flat. The sleeves are the same fabric as what I had used for my Black Mage (2017) as it was extra. Perfect shade and everything.
Boots: These are what made my simple costume difficult. I made a base boot pattern for the vinyl, modifying as needed until I had the basic boot shape. The cuff is a simple doubled rectangle sewn in the back and then top stitched to stay folded over. I wanted do build the boots entirely from scratch, so I traced around my foot onto EVA foam floor mats for the sole of the boot. I gave them a small heel with extra foam. I finished the edges with the dremel and used contact cement to put them together. For attaching the actual boot to the sole, I cut out pieces of craft foam the same size as the EVA soles, and sewed the vinyl boots onto these pieces of craft foam. I attached this part to the sole with contact cement once complete.
