Why Blair?
This was a costume I had dreamed of making since I started reading the manga in 2010. I love Blair, so it was only a matter of time before I cosplayed her. Also, how could I resist cosplaying a witch type character?
Boots in initial wears are ones I previously owned. I will be making her proper boots at some point.
I didn't have to buy any of the fabrics that I used making Blair. I used black fabric that I had gotten from my dad when the Sears warehouse in my town closed - they used my discount card for Fabricland years ago anyway, so yay free 30 meters of black cotton! The white for the underskirt and on the hat is a cut up bed sheet.
For the dress I modified a pattern I had already for the bust, adding further up the torso and creating the racerback. The skirt was my own pattern. I used the same pattern for the underskirt as I did for the actual dress. Edges are all finished with bias tape.

The sleeves are a custom pattern to fit my arms. They are a single seam all the way along. They stay up with help of a thin elastic band. Edges on top finished with bias tape.
The pendant is L200 foam from CosplaySupplies.com that I cut and shaped and painted by hand. Heat sealed. It sticks onto the dress with velcro.
The wig is a Jaguar in Grape and short wefts from Arda Wigs Canada. I used wire, electrical tape and glue to create the curls. I plan to redo these in the future with a stronger wire and better securing methods. The curls have a piece of fabric wrapped and glued around the tops, and they are hand sewn into the wig. Normal styling for the rest.
The hat was a challenge. I made he interior with buckram (the interfacing, and sewed the black on top. The outer edge of the brim is finished with bias tape like much of the costume. I plan to add a wire in in the future. The 'curl' on the hat is essentially a long special shaped 'tube' that I left openings in to stuff it. It's essentially a thin plushie. This was hand sewn onto the hat. The band is cut from the aforementioned bed sheet. It's hand sewn onto the hat. The buttons on it are from my late grandmother's old button tin - so these buttons are circa 1940-1960.
