Why Final Form Xemnas?
In all honesty I just love a challenge. This coat definitely provided me with one. Xemnas is a fascinating character to me, and doing his Final Form coat was just as fascinating. Originally I'd debated to just buy the coat, but I didn't like the look/fit/accuracy of any of the coats that I found online, and thus proceeded to make the coat myself. It was quite the undertaking and I'm glad that I took on this project.
This cosplay cost less and was more work than expected. Literally.
The pattern used for the coat is Simplicity 5386. I modified it to fit my body and the character. The entire thing is fully lined and made of heavy dull satin. This was my first time lining a coat with a zipper.
After the coat was all sewn together, I took to doing the designs on the coat. Sketching out the designs in pencil, free-hand took me roughly six hours to do. Inking was another three. So in nine hours all I had done was drawn and inked the edges of the designs. But it took me three to five days of hand painting the designs. I was being extremely picky with this cosplay.
The decorations on the chains are made of dowel that I cut up. I took the dremel to them to do the designs and spray painted silver. They were then sealed with Mod Podge and hot glued onto the chains. The chains are hand sewn onto the coat.
The pants are pleather. The shirt I wear underneath is actually for female Vincent.
