Why Harley Quinn?
This was a pretty simple to put together costume. Made mostly to wear with my at the time boyfriend John as Joker. Bonus of this dress is that because of how I made it, I can wear it as a normal dress.
I made the hair clip first using 2 pieces of craft foam hot glued together. I base coated both pieces in white and then painted them in opposing red and black. After hot gluing the two pieces together onto the barrette I added a small gold jewel to the center bottom for extra sparkle.
I used one of my Simplicity New Look patterns as a base for the shapes, just altering so that I had one red and one black piece of each pattern piece minimum. I kept the middle solid black for my own contrast. I followed the pattern for the bodice and waist of the dress. The skirt was just two big pieces of fabric sewn together, and carefully pleated into place on the dress.
This was my first time doing applique onto spandex with spandex. I cut out 3 black diamonds and carefully sewed them into the skirt of the dress where they needed to go.
Wig is a Chibi in Fairy Blonde from Arda Wigs. No modification was made except adding red and black hair ties.
Tights were bought at Spencers.
