Why Remake Neuro?
I did love my original cosplay done in 2010, and had at first wanted to fix up the old one. Sadly, that proved to be rather difficult given all of the mistakes that were made during it's construction. So I had to opt to make a new one. As well I felt this would better show my skills and abilities that I have now vs 2010. The original still has a special place in my heart, but I'm extremely proud of the remake.
Construction:
Wig - The wig is a Magnum Long in Fairy Blonde with a pack of short wefts in Blood Red from Arda Wigs Canada. The bangs were a challenge to sew in, cutting the front hair down of the blonde, and sewing the blood red wefts over top as I needed. I also heat trained a centre part into the fairy blonde wig. Once I had the bangs and middle piece sewn in, I trained them with heat, and used hair glued them into place.
Cravat - The fastest part of the whole cosplay. I used an old bed sheet and cut a long strip of it, sewing it into a tube. I pressed it flat for the seam to be in the center back, and hand finished the ends.
Pants - I used the same pants pattern that I used for Lucifer, tailoring them slightly differently, but doing the finishing on the inside the same - hand felling. The waistband is finished with elastic.
Jacket - This was the biggest part. The pants and jacket were both made out of twill, and my jacket is fully lined. I made my own pattern for the jacket - body, sleeves, collar, lapels... I looked at how actual men's suits were made using fusible interfacing and tailor's canvas. There's fusible interfacing the full length of the fronts, and completely inside the collar and lapels. The fronts of the jacket are also half canvased. I finished the bottom of the jacket and the sleeves by hand. My mother assisted with the buttonholes. The buttons used on the jacket are the same ones used on the original costume from 2010 - which are about 40-50 years old now!
