Why Princess Velvet?
Initially she was to be a surprise for my at the time boyfriend as he really loved the character and game. I ended up falling in love with her myself as I did research into her and the game of Odin Sphere. She remains now my favourite character in it. Her design is quite unique for a princess and she will forever be one of my favourite costumes I've made.
I'll go from top to bottom with the costume.
All red is made of velvet given to me by my grandmother for free, and the black is a t-shirt my mom gave me that she bought at the thrift store.
Snood: My mom and I came to the conclusion that her hood isn't attached given some of the artworks. So we made a snood. this was a custom pattern. 90% of the snood is sewn by machine, but the band and ties are sewn by hand. The stars are made of wood, and hot glued into place and painted gold.
Cap: Made using scrap fabric from another cosplay and lace that I bought at Value Village. Beads and stars are hand sewn on using a wire to string them. The stars are wood, painted with gold and hot glued to beads.
Wig: Initially meant for Kefka. So I'm not including the wig cost here. Wig is just placed the way it should be.
Top: I took a top that my mom gave me and turned it into a crop top. I also took it in considerably for a nice snug fit. The ruffles are made of gold satin reused from Kuja. Sleeves are velvet and cotton stretch.
Skirt thing: Used the bottom of the shirt for the black. Sewn by machine to the velvet and it's made to lengths I'm comfortable with.
Tights bought at Zellers & shoes at Ardene.
Weapons are commissioned from my friend Wolfrin Photographer & Cosplayer. He did an awesome job!
As an added detail, I hand-sewed beads to the snood, sleeves, and skirt for added sparkle. There are over 1,600 tiny Czech seed beads on this!!!
