Rider - Fate/stay night
Worn to:
Anime North 2010 (Toronto, ON)
Otakuthon 2010 (Montreal, QC)
K-Town Cosplay Day 2011 (Kingston, ON)
Status: Retired
Why Rider/Medusa?
She is my favourite character from the franchise. I love her so much and I plan to actually cosplay all versions of her. I did this cosplay back when it was considered bad to call them by the name of their epic spirit, rather than their servant class!
Wig: Amanda wig in violet from CosWorx
Dress: I was lucky enough to find the perfect base dress, and all that had to be done was remove the buttons, the belt loops, and change the white band to purple. It's now even more perfect.
Boots: Made from a pair of flat shoes, over the knee tights, craft foam, and fabric. Shoes and tights should be obvious. I hot glued foam to the top of the shoes in the right shape, and hot glued more foam to the tights for the armour on her boots. The top strip of the boots was sewn on and are fabric.
Collar: Made purely from craft foam. Easiest part of the costume.
Blindfold: Went through three patterns to get the right one. Made a base shape for the blindfold, cut out two new flaps and used a glue stick to put them on, and added the details in similar fashion. Base for the blindfold was a pair of old reading glasses. -This is going to be remade as the original is falling apart-
Arm guards: Stretchy material, and the same purple fabric used on the dress and boots. The black was made to the shape of my arm, and the purple was sewn on by hand (by my mom).
Weapons: Made of dowel, duck tape, chain, hooks, and hoops.
I entered this cosplay in Otakuthon 2010's masquerade. I didn't win anything, but that's okay. Just going on stage with my boyfriend as Lancer was enough of an award for me.
