Tavros Nitram - Homestuck
Worn:
Otakuthon 2013 (Montreal, QC)
Quinte Halloween Cosplay Day/Photoshoot V (Belleville, ON)
Filming session 2020
Status: Retired
Why Tavros Nitram?
Tavros is my favourite character in the Homestuck series. He was the character identified the most with for being shy and unsure of himself. He's also surprisingly comfortable despite the headache that the horns would cause me.
The wig was the most expensive part of this. I bought a shaggy one, about the same length as my wig for John Egbert (cosplay pending), and slowly trimmed down the sides into a fohawk using thinning sheers. Long process but worth it! The mohawk part is styled with Got2B.
The horns were a major pain in the ass. All photos from Otakuthon feature version 1. These were heavy! Very very heavy!
I used 2 Jumbo Pringles Cans, tin foil, hot glue, air dry clay and spackle. The clay and spackle made it so damn heavy! The horns are painted with craft paint, and are secured onto the headband using rivets. Sadly one of the rivets popped at Otakuthon, so I had to completely remake the horns.
Version 2: I used Pringles cans again and tin foil to make the shape, however this new pair does not have any air dry clay on them, strictly spackle. This made them a lot lighter! Like the old pair they're riveted onto a head band and painted with craft paint.
The pants I already had, along with the dress shirt. The t-shirt was bought at Michaels and I just painted the Taurus symbol on it.
Makeup so far is Snazaroo + setting powder. I even cut my nails into claws and painted them!
