Trickster Karkat Vantas - Homestuck
Worn:
Montreal Comic Con 2013 (Montreal, QC)
Status: Retired
Why Trickster Karkat?
I love Karkat's character and his Trickster self is very different. I love this iteration of Karkat's Trickster version and it's so colourful and fun to wear. I'll admit that I have a thing for candy corn, with it being my favourite Halloween candy.
Trickster Karkat was surprisingly easy to make :D
The wig I used is my old Spitfire wig. I love that that wig is so versatile for styling!
The horns are a tin foil base with three layers of spackle. They're hand painted with craft acrylic and mounted onto hair clips. They're so light that I don't have to worry about them pulling off of the clips!
The pants I just bought at the thrift store. Shoes I bought at Value Village for $5 and painted orange (they were originally red).
The shirt is broadcloth with the symbol hand painted on. The pattern used was the Matrix coat pattern, modified into Karkat's shirt. The sleeves were fun. The collar is filled with solari, which is used inside of oven mitts. I figured the solari would be my best bet to make it stand up.
I even made special custom sickles for this cosplay. They're pine wood, and the 3D details are done in spackle.
