There's one thing that everyone can agree on (whether you're a cosplayer, general con-goer, artist, average Joe/Jane/whatever, etc), it's that 2020 was a year none of us will ever forget. And it is certainly one that is going to stand out when we say "things were very different". 2020 had a lot of HUGE downs, most of them due to COVID-19, but there were also some big ups for a lot of people.
This year I struggled a lot with things towards the end of the year, but I also had some major ups and had a few things that surprised me!

Hello lovelies! So recently I realized something about myself that I was kind of denying for pretty much the entire time I have been into cosplay. I used to be vehemently against people doing purely sexy things with cosplay, then eventually accepting that that was what people wanted to do, and if I didn't like it, just don't look. Which honestly is the best way to go about things, don't like it you just don't look. Since I did the initial makeup test for Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel, something... sparked inside and made me realize something.
This year I finally finished and debuted a costume that I had wanted for around ten years, but at the time when I had decided I wanted to do the costume, I did not have the knowledge, skills, or confidence to cosplay this character or costume. Amano Kuja tested my abilities, and really made me learn a lot while making this particular version of the Final Fantasy villain. Included in this post is all of my work in progress photos, and a more in-depth description of the making process. I started this version of Kuja in January 2017, intending to debut him for Costume Con 35 in Toronto and enter him into the Sci-fi & Fantasy Masquerade. Unfortunately due to lack of time, and not wanting to rush him, I postponed finishing this cosplay. When it was announced that KupoCon would be returning to Toronto this December, I decided I would finish him for then. From September 16th to November 3rd I was off work due to company issues, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to finally finish Kuja, as well as work on the other costumes that I needed to get done for KupoCon. Needless to say, I got a lot done during that month and a half! I've actually been wanting to write this for quite some time, but wasn't sure previously of how to put it all into words. Now, I'm sure of how I want to put everything into this post. It's true that cosplay has changed my life, in more ways than I expected that it ever would when I started back in 2007.

I missed a couple days due to my life but I'd make up for it the next day with double shares! This blog post features every cosplayer that I shared this past month on my Facebook page, with the little write ups I did and links to their Facebooks!
Part 2 of my personal evolution blog. It would have been far too long to make this as one post. This covers 2013-2017 for my costumes and my continual growth as a cosplayer.
I had meant to write these blogs more frequently, but that didn't happen. Oops...
Over time people don't always realize just how far they have come when it comes to cosplay - or any hobby really. But it seems especially prominent in cosplay when older work becomes lost in the waves of new. And everyone seems to want to hide what they did when they first started doing cosplay. But it's an evolving hobby and it requires you to learn new things every now and again so that you can continue to grow in this fun and creative (albeit expensive) hobby! *NEW* Mondays I'm going to share with you a pickup for your cosplaying! Just something I think might help if you are maybe down in the dumps :) Here's the very first!
