Normally I try to do this before the end of the year, but things got crazy busy in my personal life in the last couple of weeks so I didn't have much opportunity until now! This year was more relaxed in the costume area, and definitely busier when it came to conventions since I was able to go to them again!

So I realize it's been a few cons since I actually wrote a blog. Oops. Missed writing for FanaticCon Brockville and YetiCon. At least now I'm getting caught up by writing about Otakuthon last weekend. Let's get back on track. I did my usual of driving up to Ottawa the Thursday night before going, staying at my partner Zandreth's apartment for the night. Though we did go to Jack Astor's together with our friend Red Mage for dinner as a kick off to the weekend. This year was so much fun and definitely my most memorable to date! I am so excited for Otakuthon's 15th year next year! This year's edition ran August 16-18 and I did something new that I've never done at a con before: I WENT TO A CONCERT! And it wasn't just any concert! Ever heard of T.M. Revolution??? TMR / TNNK was at Otakuthon as a guest this year and they did a concert! Their first ever Canadian appearance! It was definitely worth the extra $30. It's that time of year where I have no more projects that I can fit into the last week, and I'm already working on everything for 2019. So, I have a 2018 year in review blog for you all, to see what happened with my year. I won't go into insane amounts of detail here, but I'll cover what I feel I should cover for my year.
It's almost hard to believe that this year marked my 10th year of Otakuthon! It's pretty crazy! But I'm happy I went and I debuted three new costumes, and wore one I bought last year as a bonus cosplay - because one turned out hotter than I anticipated!
NOTE: I'm breaking down my convention blogs a bit differently starting now. So the blogs will go as listing what happened, with either a (+) or (-) beside them. Any highlights will be indicated at the end of each day! Part 2 of my personal evolution blog. It would have been far too long to make this as one post. This covers 2013-2017 for my costumes and my continual growth as a cosplayer.
I had meant to write these blogs more frequently, but that didn't happen. Oops...
Over time people don't always realize just how far they have come when it comes to cosplay - or any hobby really. But it seems especially prominent in cosplay when older work becomes lost in the waves of new. And everyone seems to want to hide what they did when they first started doing cosplay. But it's an evolving hobby and it requires you to learn new things every now and again so that you can continue to grow in this fun and creative (albeit expensive) hobby! My 9th year attending Otakuthon, and I'm so glad that this year I could also bring my friend Cass to it. I can't wait for next year - I started planning Otakuthon 2018 during Otakuthon 2017.... oops?
My fourth year driving to Montreal for Otakuthon, third where I actually drive IN Montreal. There was a small hiccup with parking though (thank you random old French guy yelling at me while I tried to park - ended up denting my mom's van). But the rest of the weekend went really well - until Monday with more random old French guys yelling at me for parking again - but different places.
Been working on Zorn so much over the last few weeks and the costume still isn't finished. But thankfully, he's almost done.
