Took a bit but finally sitting and doing my blog for CAPE! CAPE (full name Cornwall and Area Pop Event) is a con that I never got to go to pre-COVID as I was always in my mad dash to Anime North - back when I was trying to make and do too much in a short period of time. This year I finally got to go! It was well worth it to see some friends and experience a new con! Saturday: It was a very early start with getting up at 6am to start putting liquid latex and body paint on my face for Dabi and getting into his cosplay. It was well worth it, even with confusing some people at the ONRoute that I stopped at for breakfast. I got there a bit later than planned to the con, but I finished my body paint, got my wristband pretty quickly after arriving. After only being there for 5 minutes I bought a wand at one of the booths! It's so pretty! Also got William Ragsdale and Amanda Bearse's autographs for my friend Gummypandapops to send to them since they're such a big fan of Fright Night. I ended up spending most of the day hanging out with Anniechie at her booth, including buying the steel Red Queen from Devil May Cry. I had a wonderful shoot with Richard Dufault of Open Shutter Photography. I'm so excited for the photos! Like just look at this photo! This was just a one go shot when goofing off after I helped film some BTS stuff of Anniechie and Soulette Cosplay's photoshoot with Richard! I was just being silly and leaned backwards! This is officially one of my favourite photos of myself in cosplay now! It was honestly a lot of fun getting to help at Anniechie and Soulette's shoot. Though also awkward because there were reflections everywhere in the spot and I had to be a 'creeper' with how I took the BTS shots for Anniechie's vlog up on her YouTube channel! It was quite funny with me laying on the ground xD After that I checked into my hotel room, ordered some dinner and spent the night filming TikToks in Dabi's cosplay. Sunday: I slept in a little bit, but got some breakfast at the hotel restaurant. I only got something small and quick, as I ate as I packed and got dressed. I'm also not a big breakfast person. Got into Link, and got everything packed up and loaded in my van pretty quickly. I got to the con and had some small issue of they almost didn't let me in with the sword and shield for Link. Had to explain I'd taken them to bigger cons and been allowed in. I managed to catch most of Anniechie's panel on doing tricks for performing on stage for masquerade. Which honestly really inspired me and gave me some potential ideas! It was fascinating to see how the spin dress from her's and Symphony and Silk's WCS performance was built! Again spent the entire day hanging out with Annie, and we had a nice picnic outside as a big Legend of Zelda group! It was so much fun and so wholesome~ Need more of that. We drove off to a church in Cornwall for photos and OMG just the BTS have me excited for what's to come! This is only a preview and it's gorgeous. It has me very excited for the full shoot! I can't remember the last time I got to cosplay with these wonderful ladies and I missed them so much! It was fantastic to get to see them again after 2 years!
Finished off the day and I left shortly after 5, taking Link's wig and boots off for the drive home since it was 2.5 hours. I'm really glad I went and I'm considering going again next year. But time will tell there.
